june,27,2012 How do you tell what color eggs your chickens are going to lay?
if you want to know how to check your chickens egg color before they lay then this is for you well normally you should already know when your buying the breed but if you don't this is how you can tell. the chickens earlobe ,when its white that means the chicken will only lay white eggs yes this may sound ridiculous but its true and if a chicken has a colored earlobe like red or yellow or brown then they will lay a colored egg. but don't get me wrong its fun to know what color your chickens eggs are but there is no difference nutrition wise with color, some people think that brown eggs are healthier but they are quite wrong it doesn't matter its just personal preference . hope you enjoyed! :)

june,24,2012 chicken update!
i took some pictures today of the grown up chicks there still not fully grown you can tell because there combs havent grown in, when there fully grown they should be a bright red and that's when they will start laying eggs,i have recently started letting them free range around the backyard to catch bugs and eat grass its good for them! :) cant wait till they start laying!

May,8,2012 cockadoodledooo!!!
okay Im really sorry I haven't been able to post any pictures but the camera is still missing but once i find it i promise to upload nothing but tons of pictures!!! but anyway if you get chicks and you live in the city (like me) make sure you get rid of the roosters before they are old enough to COOOCCKKIIDOODLEDOOO!!! neighbors will complain and you can get fined real bad! but another reason why i want my camera is because we just got 6 more chicks from dels feed store! there tiny and fuzzy but i hope they grow fast :) but yes roosters in the city is illegal and if you are found with one you'll be fined so if you have one and need to get rid of it you should take it to somones farm and offer it to them or you can look up adds on craigslist but yes somtimes roosters can be a hastle :) hope you enjoyed!

May,8,2012 WHY YOU WANT FRESH EGGS!
if you are thinking about raising chickens or know somone who is, I highly recomend fresh eggs . The taste of fresh eggs are by far much better than the eggs you buy from the store did you know that the eggs from the grocery store are a lot of the time months old you can tell because the eggs air cell will get larger at the top of the egg thats why when you peel your boiled eggs theirs always a air bubble indent thats because their old. Fresh eggs on the other hand taste much better in comparison , the yolk is much plumper and darker showing the chicken even had a better diet then the cramped factory chickens farm eggs are healthier to because the chickens were healthier not being fed antibiotics but instead grass and bugs and various things around the yard but yes i most highly recomend farm fresh eggs and if you know somone with chickens im sure they would agree with you and im sure they wouldent mind selling you eggs :) well hope you enjoyed!

May,4,2012 Happy Friday!!! :) :D :} :] :I
today im just doing a simple little lesson and later im probably going to download some more pictures for you but todays lesson is about predators towards your chickens. its very important to have a safe coop and secured area for them to roam ....foxes, coyotes ,racoons, possums like chickns as a main course so make sure you have all the requirements of a coop and yard :)

may,3,2012 painting the inside of the coop and more
okay so after my trapped in incident the other day ive decided no more wanting the door closed no matter how cold :) but ive started painting the inside of the coop just for extra insulation, warmth (ect) so here is some pictures of it in the process and also another good tip with raising chicks is make sure you have a cover! hahah i found Nellie roosting on the rim of the chick box when i came home from school to clean there food and water i thought that was funny so i snapped some shots she seems to be particularly interested in my camera but oh well thats all i have for today hope you enjoyed!!
may,2,2012 TRAPPED
okay i have a story for you today......i wanted to paint the inside of our coop and it was really cold outside! and the chicken door only closed from the outside so i asked my sister to close me in for about half an hour so i could finish up...yes this wasn't a very smart idea in the first place but i did a lot of work then i noticed it had already been about an hour so i started yelling for my sister....no answer so i start yelling louder and louder but no one could hear me..so i got real mad and kept painting for about 20 more minutes then started getting really mad and decided no ones coming to get me and im not going to break the door so i had to find a way out!! but where?? then i finally realized i would have to crawl out that tiny chicken door!!! so inch by inch i squeezed myself out(with great difficulty) but just think if i were any bigger i might have been stuck in there all night!!!! well what did we learn today? don't rely on your sisters :) hahaha just joking BUT NEVER LOCK LET SOMONE LOCK YOURSELF IN A CHICKEN COOP!!!!!!!! hope you enjoyed !!!

this chicken is a leghorn they are really good egg layers of large white eggs
2. Plymouth Rock
these chickens are very skiddish and do well with a few others of them and they lay brown eggs
3. light Sussex
the light sussex is cocky and they do well in small flocks ,they also lay large brown eggs
4. rhode island reds
these chickens lay a variety of brown and whitish eggs

April,30,2012 lesson for chicks!
hello everyone !!! i dont have any pictures for you today because its so cold and the chicks would catch a chill so im giving you a tip about chicks:
if you are looking into raising chicks or already are then make sure your heat lamp isnt to close to the chicks in their pen because they will snuggle right under it and get crisped without knowing! chickens are sweet but not the most intelligent creature :) , Also as they grow taller you want to put the lamp higher up because the same method applies they'll get burned up! thanks for reading fallow me!and comment! :)
this is a bad example :)
